Shamanic Healings
The various types of shamanic healing are as diverse as the people who practice them. In "Core Shamanism," as taught by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, there are certain classic forms that are widely practiced by shamans of virtually all traditions. They include:

Soul Retrieval is done to bring back vital essence lost thorugh trauma. Often when a person experiences a traumatic event, modern psychology says"dissociation" occurs. In shamanic terms a part of the person’s vital essence leaves to avoid being present for the traumatic event. The shaman, with the help of power animals and teachers, finds the vital essence and returns it to its owner in order to restore wholeness and wellness for the client.
Power Retrieval helps to restore balance to the client who has experienced a "loss of power." This condition may appear as depression, disease or chronic misfortune. The shamanic way of addressing it is to bring the client a "power animal" that will help them in their present circumstances. Power animals--or totem animals as they are sometimes known--are spiritual helpers who carry particular powers, qualities or abilities that may be helpful to the client with whatever problems they are experiencing.
Extraction Healing is the removal of the spiritual causes of disease. The Shaman looks into the body with spiritual eyes to see the form and location of the spiritual condition and draw it out. This work is done on the "energy body," not on the physical body. The energetic manifestations are then neutralized in water or returned to thier natural home.

Ceremonies and Rites of PassageThroughout time various cultures have marked significant events in the lives of the people through special ceremonies and rites of passage, giving physical form to interior changes in human life. Ritual making is powerful, and is used to mark significant life passages, such as birth, coming of age, marriage, moving into a new residence, celebrating major milestones and honoring the dead.
Energy Healing
I use various types of energy healing to address imbalances and blockages, typically in combination with shamanic techniques. Among the modalities I use are: Healing with Spiritual Light, Pranic healing and Reiki.

Healing with Spiritual LightThis work is based on the concepts described in Sandra Ingerman’s book Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins, which teaches techniques to transmute negative beliefs, attitudes, and energy generated by emotions. Healing with Spiritual Light brings forth the divine perfection in all of creation to restore wellness and wholeness to body, mind and spirit.

Pranic HealingPranic Healing® utilizes prana to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes. Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as Chi. It is also called Ruah or the Breath of Life in the Old Testament. Pranic Healing® is a simple yet powerful and effective system of no-touch energy healing originated and developed by GrandMaster Choa Kok Sui. It is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a self-repairing living entity that possesses the innate ability to heal itself. Pranic Healing® works on the principle that the healing process is accelerated by increasing the life force or vital energy on the affected part of the physical body.

ReikiReiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
